You don’t have to have experience with polymer clay to register. Integrating polymer clay tesserae into mosaics is a great way to add interest and texture to your work. This workshop will give you a jumpstart on creating your own clay tesserae to put into your mosaics.

I’ll show you techniques you can use to make polymer clay tiles for use in mosaics. I will focus on how to condition, roll and bake clay. Emphasis will be on stamping the clay, use of foils and gold leaf, and cutting the clay into tiles. We'll explore ways to use colorants such as mica powders, pan pastels, acrylic paint and wax-based pigments to enhance the stamped designs. I will also demonstrate how to make mokume gane tiles using stacked layers of polymer clay and foils. Then, we'll combine glass, clay and beads into an abstract mosaic that is not grouted. This workshop is open to students at all levels.

Register now, it’s free.
